Hi Susan,

This is a great black wasp. It will not hurt you and it does a lot of good in the garden. They do not build nests on buildings.

Okay what nest is up at my house peak? It is not the usual hornet nest. It is brown, maybe mud with active insects on it. I cannot see it well enough to identify if it has the same insect .
