crack in soil - cause and solution sought #882961

Asked August 26, 2024, 7:59 AM EDT

Hi, Almost 20 years ago, we installed a stone wall at the edge of our property. A crack has developed and I'm seeking a probable cause and a solution. I'm thinking that the soil has decomposed over time and the recent lack of rain has revealed this. I appreciate your help with trying to resolve and remediate this. Thank you!

Expert Response

Hello,
The dry weather and roots from the surrounding tree can cause cracks to appear in the soil during dry stretches. It should reside after we receive rain. This is a very common occurrence.
