Apple scab #882932

Asked August 25, 2024, 7:14 PM EDT

Is there a systemic fungicide that can be broadcast around the base of apple trees to control scab. Spraying helps on the foliage but the fruit is still affected making the entire crop worthless. I have six apple trees in my yard and it's not worth harvesting any apples. With the cost of the liquid fungicides it has become cost prohibitive to continue with trying to grow my own apples.

Expert Response

An online search for systemic fungicide for apple scab did reveal some products. However they have not been UMN tested and so I have no idea of their effectiveness.
Bagging your apples would be the best way to achieve a crop.
