Can you help identify this grass? #876839

Wonder if you might be able to identify this grass. I have not seen it until last couple of years. It has invaded parts of Buffalo and Bermuda grassy areas, flower beds and nearly any open area in yard. It’s clump forming. I have been digging these clumps out and using herbicide on smaller growth. Seed heads are initially broom looking, the bloom out to a fireworks appearance. (This is on property that is not constantly inhabited so unable to manage on weekly basis.)

Expert Response

This is goosegrass. It is an annual grass that can be controlled similar to crabgrass. Often the best control is a preemergent herbicide. I have included the link to information on controlling annual grasses in lawns. After looking it over, if you have questions, get in touch.
