Crab apple tree dying #873616

Asked June 18, 2024, 1:25 PM EDT

Our crab apple tree blossomed this spring and looked healthy until the past couple of week. Now large sections of branches have leaves turning brown and dropping off. What is causing this and is there anything we can do to save the tree?

Washington County Minnesota

Expert Response

Apple scab is a likely culprit, caused by the wet weather this year. It will not kill the tree, it will just look bad this year. See these web pages.
