Front yard advantageous Common Box Elder trees may have short tap root and be shallow rooted near sewer/water lines which are supposed to be six feet down, per diameter breast height (DBH). How big and how many? Will a crowd keep roots less?

I am unsure what your actual question is. Are these trees coming up from windblown seeds? Do you want these trees to continue to grow? If not, simply keep cutting them off with your lawn mower and they will eventually die or you can pull them out. Please clarify.
