Flowering trees - leaves truning brown and dyring up #871569

We have 2 flowering trees ( they do not bear fruit/berries) Leaves are turning brown, dry up and fall off the tree. We've done nothing different this year that in the past with respect to lawn care. in the city of St Paul, the Selby DAle neighborhood.

It looks like a fungal infection, possibly anthracnose.  If the trees are healthy, the should be able to withstand this disease:

My guess is that anthracnose is going to be common this summer because of the wet, windy spring we've had.
