What type of grass is this in my lawn? #869799

Asked May 23, 2024, 2:11 PM EDT

I have my front and back lawn seeded with 100% rye. I am afraid there is another grass overtaking the rye which is giving my lawn a two tone color. My hunch is that it is Poa Annua (Kentucky Bluegrass) but I find it very difficult to identify. Perhaps it is just mature perennial rye? Thank you

I think i see tall fescue in the first two pictures. This grass is very course and makes the white strands when your mower is not freshly sharpened. The grass you are holding looks like perennial ryegrass. It is nearly impossible to remove one grass from another with herbicides. If you want to take this out, I would use a sod cutter to remove it and then reseed or resod this area.
