Is this crystalized honey? #869581

Asked May 22, 2024, 9:39 AM EDT

Hello, I wanted to confirm that these white specks in the comb are crystallized honey and not anything else. This frame has been in the hive since winter. Can you please let me know if this is of any concern or is it okay to keep it in the hive for the bees. Thank you!

Expert Response

Thanks for including the photos! I agree that it looks like crystallized honey. We commonly give honey frames from deadouts to new colonies as long as we don't suspect the deadout had American foulbrood disease (which is not common).
