Field mice #866630

Asked May 01, 2024, 2:21 PM EDT

Any suggestions on keeping field mice from eating my garden seeds? They ate all my melons, cukes, zucchini and most of my corn.

Expert Response

Not sure what species you're identifying as "field mice", but realize that many bird species can contribute to removal of high-value seeds such as those you mention. I would recommend covering your beds with either rigid hardware cloth or tightly stretched (taut) bird netting to exclude any of the potential seed-nappers until your seeds can get started.
