Dear Bryan,

There is an excellent article on lawn pests from Oregon State that I am linking to this message.  It describes all the different kinds of grubs that can cause damage to your lawn.  It also describes various types of ways to get rid of them.

I would caution you about using the pesticides that kill all types of insects because you are worried about your dog getting it on them.   Aside from the dog's feet becoming contaminated and then the dog licking his paws, the poisoned insects could be eaten by birds and may harm them as well.

Many insecticides also kill beneficial insects. Only use them as a last resort.

Of the choices you have, beneficial predator insects is a choice that will not damage the pollinators, birds, wild animals and of course especially your dog.  You can contact insectaries that sell nematodes and they will advise which nematode to purchase and how to disseminate the nematodes.  We cannot recommend a commercial business, but if you put predator insects or insectary Portland, Oregon in the search box on Google, you should come up with several businesses.

Thank you for your question Bryan, if you have further need for info, let us know.
