I had a client call and say that her daughter had given her a large jar of black maraschino cherries. They have developed mold on the top and she would like to know if they are still usable if she takes the mold off.

According to the USDA it is recommended to discard most foods that become moldy. Unfortunately, a jar of cherries with visible mold should not be consumed.
