Ash trees in Southern Utah #866304

Asked April 29, 2024, 1:35 PM EDT

What is the possibility that EAB’s are already in Utah and also far south Utah (St George)? If they are only able to fly 30 miles, Southern Utah towns are usually more than 30 miles apart.

Expert Response

I can see from this USDA Map that the EAB has not been confirmed in Utah. There do appear to be infestations just on the eastern border of Utah in Colorado, so there is the possibility that the EAB is in Utah and may not have been reported yet. Local experts would know the latest information on this pest for your area. I am in North Carolina, so I suggest you contact your local County Extension Center to talk with an Extension Agent about this pest.
