Growing peonies from root #866092

Asked April 27, 2024, 1:50 PM EDT

I planted peony roots in fall of 2021. They sprouted a month ago and are now six inches tall. I live in Zone 6,Parma Ohio. Can you give me some general care advice and tell me can I reasonably expect a bloom sometime later this season? Thank you

https://store.extension.iastate.edu/Product/Growing-Garden-Peonies-PDF. here is an article which should answer most of your questions.  Your peony sounds like it is herbaceous.. dying back to the ground each year to revive in spring. There are two other types. One is a tree peony which has a permanent above ground structure. The other is a cross between the herbaceous and the tree peony and is called an Itoh.
