Hi Craig,
Yes that is a tick. The photos are dark and a bit out of focus though, so I can't be sure of the type of tick. My best guess is that it is a male western dog tick (Dermacentor similis), but I would really have to see some better photos to be sure. Any chance you could get a couple pics that are in-focus and more brightly lit?Yours,
