Shrubs compatiable with Ajuga. #865905

I have an area bordered by my front steps, sidewalk, and front and side area of the home. In this area I have planted a boxwood hedge, in a square. I have attempted to grow an attractive ground cover around the boxwood, to fill in the area in order to eliminate the need for mulch. This area faces straight south without any shade so the sun can get fairly intense. My question, will Ajuga choke out the boxwoods? Can Ajuga handle that much sun? Is there a variety that is less invasive and more sun friendly?

According to the experts, ajuga tolerates full sun to shade.  However, part shade is probably ideal. To thrive in full sun it requires plenty of moisture.  

Ajuga will not choke out the boxwoods.
