Soil pH Meter or Strips #865825

Asked April 25, 2024, 12:45 AM EDT

Do you have any recommendation soil pH meters or test strips that I can purchase? I don't trust an inexpensive meter I purchased on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BR52P26). I did a test of this meter by wrapping the electrodes in paper towel soaked in orange juice and lemon juice, and the pH meter didn't read below 5.5. I think it should have read much lower, under 4. Thank you for your recommendation, Wade

Thank you for your question, Wade.  Unfortunately, as a state institution, we are unable to recommend commercial products or entities.  The Oregon DEQ or Department of Agriculture may be resources.  Here is an OSU article showing research on the reliability of various testing methods:  https://extension.oregonstate.edu/crop-production/soil/measuring-soil-ph

And this resource has a list of labs you could contact:  https://extension.oregonstate.edu/catalog/pub/em-8677-analytical-laboratories-serving-oregon

Good luck!
