Dear Dennis,
Thank you for sending me this question. I always learn so much . For example, there are two types of tall fescue, one a "foraging grass" aka might consider it a weed, and the other is probably the type you planted for lawn. Since I can only base my information on your identification, I thought it best to send this article which tells quite a bit about both fescues.

If you have correctly identified the annual ryegrass, you may find the easiest treatment is to keep it mowed so that it does not go to seed. True to its name, it is an annual and usually dies out in hot summers. It can be found in some seed mixes as it grows quickly and provides early grass while waiting for the other grass to develop. Dear Dennis,
Well that's true about the seed possibilities on what seeds have emerged this year. Yes, those seeds will not be in the seed bed. But, there may be other seed still in the soil that works its way up to the surface so I can't in all honesty say you won't have any. Some seeds wait in the soil until they have optimum conditions to germinate. But if this year's germinated annual rye does not get the opportunity to go to seed, you've won one battle at least. When I turnover soil in my gardens I open that garden up to all sorts of weed possibilities, Fresh seed comes to the top and we start the weeding all over again. But anything that you prevent going to seed is a win!
Happy gardening,
