My initial thought is that the leaves are white from lack of sun.  

Leaves that have turned white due to insufficient exposure to light typically will not turn green again with exposure alone.  The damage is irreversible once leaves have lost their green color due to factors like lack of sunlight, nutrient deficiency, or other stressors.  However, providing the plant with optimal growing conditions can prevent further damage and support new healthy growth.
