Will Aronia melanocarpa thrive at 8500" elevation?

Hi Judith,
It looks like Aronia Melanocarpa can grow in zones 3-8. I believe you're in zone 3 or 4 at that elevation so Aronia Melanocarpa should be able to survive. It's hard to know if it will thrive as any especially hard freezes may damage it. Black Chokecherry may take a year or more to get fully established at that elevation. Look for the variation called Viking Black Chokecherry as it is suitable for elevations of 7000 and above.
