Probably a dumb question but can I use shepherds hooks to stake my tomato plants? I have a couple of tall ones I’m not using. The metal they are made of ok in the ground next to the plant?

Shepherd's hooks are made out of various materials depending on manufacturer, but I believe most are made out of steel or wrought iron. Either way, I can't think of any metals used in the garden that would affect your tomatoes. They should make great supports for the tomatoes.
