Should the first turf fertilizer put down in spring be the crabgrass preventer/fertilizer combo or should a round of straight fertilizer be put down earlier, before the crabgrass preventer.
Turf is irrigated and clippings left on.

Hi,
You can apply a crabgrass preemergent now. Fertilizing should come in May, when grass is actively growing.
