We have clay soil and are looking to replace our dying over grown Evergreen shrub. What are some options for us to go to?

Good Morning Kathy,

Thank you for contacting the U of M Extension Service.

Please click on the following link from the U of M Extension Yard and Garden website:

Here is another link about choosing evergreens: https://extension.umn.edu/trees-and-shrubs/choosing-evergreens-your-landscape

This information states:

  • Clay soil — arborvitae, Austrian pine, ponderosa pine, white fir

You might consider going to a large, local nursery to view the shrubs that are available and talk with the supplier.

Good Luck!
