Found Larvae #864786

Asked April 16, 2024, 5:18 PM EDT

Today I found this larvae on the ground by my house. We live on a heavily wooded lot. I did a quick search to find that it may be an invasive Longhorn Beetle. I did not notice any damaged trees with obvious holes in them. Are you able to tell me what it is and if it’s safe to put back where I found it? Thank you!

Expert Response

Nice job capturing and photographing the larvae. My Picture Insect app agrees with your identification.
This article from Ohio State University says that it is not a beneficial insect and should be destroyed.

Any advice as to how to humanely dispose it?
