Hi I live in Carver County Minnesota. I would like to prune my dogwoods. is it too late to do it now? If not now, when should I prune them? Can you please advise how much to prune them also? Thank you! Betsy Barrett

Expert Response

Dogwoods are very forgiving You can prune them now down to whatever height you wish.  You can even prune them to the ground.  If they have red stems in the fall, you can cut some down and use them in holiday pots.  Also, if they become too tall in the summer, you can prune them back a bit to control their height.
