Formerly healthy jasmine in SE PDX is now sick #864748

Hello there,
Please see attached photos for examples of discoloration and disease a jasmine vine against my back fence. It was planted ~4 yrs ago, in SE PDX, where it gets a good amount of sun in summer. It has done very well until this year, when it developed spots on many of the leaves. A similar vine further down the fence died completely over the winter. If you can provide any insights into what this is and how I should treat it, I would be very grateful. There is a kiwi next to it that does not appear to be affected. The dogwood in front of it also seems ok. Thank you!
Best regards,

Thank you for your question, Verne. Many jasmines in the PNW experienced this reaction to our freezing rain this January. They are hardy to USDA Zone 7, but the snow and ice caused a lot of leaf death. They do have other issues:

I suggest that you remove the dead tissue, leave any green foliage and pliable vines, and give them some winter protection in the future. Pruning regularly will also reduce the plant material most susceptible to cold. Hopefully, it will generate new growth. Good luck!
