Maryland does have a wild plum, but the flowers on it are white. Without a photo, we can't say for sure what you might be seeing. In addition to the beautiful Eastern redbuds, some of the other pink/purplish plants blooming right now are 'Kwanzan' cherries (pink), crabapples (some have pink/magenta flowers), pink dogwoods, azaleas (pink / lavender), and wisteria vines (lavender). If you are able to (safely) get a photo of the plant in question, we would be happy to ID it for you.
