Tree bark #864358

Asked April 13, 2024, 11:45 AM EDT

After this winter, this happen to some of my trees. Any thoughts. Looks like the bark was shaved off the tree, with little bore holes in various areas.

Expert Response

The bore holes could be exit holes created by insects that have overwintered in the tree. They could also be woodpecker damage who are looking for insects to eat.
