seeking resources for plant watering needs #864005

Asked April 10, 2024, 4:43 PM EDT

Hello, I am looking for some resources to determine landscape plant watering needs in our state such as the Water Use Classification of Landscape Species (WUCOLS) from California. Does OSU have something similar? I’d like to use it to determine the landscape irrigation needs. If you can point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.

Thank you for your question, Colleen.  We do not appear to have exactly the same resource as that of California.  Here is the only comparable one:  https://extension.oregonstate.edu/catalog/pub/em-8530-oregon-crop-water-use-irrigation-requirements
The information contained in the following, for native plant species, has water need data:  http://pnwplants.wsu.edu/Search.aspx
This has lawn maintenance information:  https://horticulture.oregonstate.edu/sites/agscid7/files/beaverturf/lawns/practical-lawn-care-ec1521.pdf

Other species' water requirements can be researched using the following search terms:  "[species] water site:edu".  I hope this is helpful.  Good luck!
