leaked tomatoe paste cans #862666

Asked March 27, 2024, 4:58 PM EDT

I recently discovered 2-3 store bought cans of expired tomato paste in my pantry that were leaking black goo.  They were on a piece of cardboard.

I discarded the cans and the cardboard.

Could these leaked cans have caused other cans in my pantry to be compromised and unsafe to eat.  None of the foods or cans are leaking at this time and have no indications of being unsafe.

This has caused me some angst as I am 80 years old and don't want to get anyone I cook for sick.

Also, are all leaked cans botulism.
