Are hellebores OK? #862541

Asked March 26, 2024, 12:18 PM EDT

On an impulse I bought two hellebores recently (because they were at a good price and I have lots of shade). Once home I realized that perhaps I should not plant them because they might be invasive. Are they OK to plant, or should I pitch them (safely) when they are done blooming?

Expert Response

You are fine with planting your beautiful Hellebore. They are non-native but they are not considered invasive. When they spread, it is most often very near the mother plant, and if they are not wanted they can be weeded out.
