Is this a privet? #862504

This has popped up in our backyard. We are mostly letting things grow since we haven’t lived here a full year yet. But after a little research I think it might be a privet, in which case it seems like we should cut it down since it’s invasive.

Yes, we agree that this looks like a Privet (Ligustrum), though it's hard to tell which species. (Not that it matters much, since you are correct that they are invasive and no Ligustrum species is native in North America.)
