Symphylans in garden #858466

Asked February 04, 2024, 2:03 PM EST

Hi, we have found symphylans in our garden beds and are wondering if you have any advice on how to deal with them. We used cut potatoes to test for their presence and found many on the surface of them, so it appears to be a pretty heavy infestation. They have especially devastated any brassicas we have tried to grow. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your question, Sophia.  Here is a great OSU resource (in the form of a .pdf) that should provide ideas:  https://horticulture.oregonstate.edu/sites/agscid7/files/horticulture/oregon-vegetables/2023-kaur-fresh-look-at-symphylans.pdf
Good luck!
