poisoning saplings (up to 3" in diameter) #857744

Asked January 24, 2024, 3:19 AM EST

I would like to cut a bunch of young saplings at about 8" up from the ground. Then immediately apply poison to the cut portion hoping the poison will travel to the roots and kill the chance of any new saplings growing from the roots of the cut sapling. Alternatively I have an Extractigator "Big Daddy" which will use leverage to pull out the sapling along with most of the roots. Should I skip the poison step and simply pull it up by the roots? Also, if using poison is more effective, what poison is best? These are cherry and prune tree saplings mostly.

I need a little bit more information to answer your question.

Where are these plants located on your property?
Are these suckers coming off of trees?
Are there other plants in the area that you want to keep?
Also, are you a commercial or backyard grower?

Look forward to hearing from you.
