How to permanently get rid of cockroaches #857170

Asked January 08, 2024, 8:24 PM EST

I"ve employed Rove pest control since June in order to get rid of cockroaches that suddenly invaded my very clean home. They appeared to come from beneath the refrigerator. Although Rove has sprayed many times, I tend to see a roach nearly every day. We initially had the red ones, but now they appear to be black. Sometimes they are tiny, and other times about an inch long. I understand that they can enter the home in card board boxes and other packaging of which we get a lot. As you have suggested above, I am not going to keep card board boxes in the house anymore, but take them directly to the recycling. I am really hoping to get rid of the roaches permanently. Is that possible? If so, how do I do that?

Thank you for writing.
I have to take your word on it about cockroaches.  It would be helpful to have a picture of the insect.
Here are some ideas.
Cockroaches like warm homes with food, they have an uncanny ability to get through cracks including at floor moldings,  pipe or wire conduits etc.
Traps will help, sealing the house will help, cleaning up cardboard and wiping pantries with lysol will help. See other suggestions here.
One thing that is often neglected are pet food bowls which can contain a feast for roaches.  If you have pets, be sure to put the traps where the pets cannot reach them.
