Last winter the ice seemed to “burn” & kill a lot of the much loved moss in our yard. Should we cover the moss with leaves like we do for the rest of the garden? Or is it more like grass & we should rake?

I looked online and nothing says to cover moss for the winter. If you go online and google overwinter moss care, there are some informative articles.
My thought for last years loss is that maybe it went into winter too dry. Moss requires moisture.
