Hi. We had hundreds of these show up on our patio after the heavy rain last weekend. They are about the size of an inch worm. One picture is on the end of a carpenter pencil for reference.

Hi Mike,
That's very interesting. That is a caterpillar, and might be a type of leaf-roller caterpillar (Family: Tortricidae), but I really can't see enough detail to confirm the family ID.
If you still have some of those caterpillars and want to send them to us at the OSU Plant Clinic for further identification, you are welcome to do that. Here is a link to instructions for submitting samples if that would be helpful...

FYI...It's easiest for me to ID caterpillars when they are submitted live.
