Red Clover cover crop #853857

Asked October 23, 2023, 8:10 PM EDT

Is too late to plant red clover as a cover crop? My location is Sauvie Island in Multnomah county. My plan is to apply 2" of compost, then over seeding area.

Expert Response

Thank you for your question, David.  It is probably about 2 months too late, but you can try.  If you so, the seed must be planted on the soil, not on compost.  https://today.oregonstate.edu/news/now%E2%80%99s-time-plan-cover-crops
Good luck!
