Globe thistle bareroot #853797

Asked October 23, 2023, 12:37 PM EDT

I recd a bareroot globe thistle from Breck’s this week. I was expecting delivery in spring. Should I plant it in the garden now or pot up it & keep indoors for the winter or just store the bareroot until spring? Thanks!

Expert Response

Good afternoon Lisa and thank you for reaching out to ask2.extension.

Have you contacted Brecks and let them know you just received it?  I would.  It should be guaranteed.

According to the MN State Horticulture Society you can still plant it outdoors until the ground freezes, or you could store it as bare root in a cool darker place.  Either way if it doesn’t make it, you would be able to get a new one in the spring.

Hope this helps!
