Weed or plant in 98 year old great aunts pots? #852283
Asked October 05, 2023, 2:52 PM EDT
Dear Horticulture staff, will you please help identify? The neglected pots badly needed water after my aunt passed. Once watered the vine type grew with little purple flowers. The other concrete pot foliage was partly rust colored - now green and bushy once watered. Thanks, Nicole

Expert Response
The pot with the purple flower appears to be Asiatic dayflower. The second pot appears to be common lambs quarters. Both are considered to be weedy plants. The Asiatic dayflower can spread pretty quickly.
Thanks, very helpful! I’ll plant some sweet william!
