Attached are two photos of a plum tree branch. This started in the spring and the tree now appears to be dead. Are you able to tell me what this is and if it will spread to other fruit trees around it? Is there any treatment for it for prevention? Thank you.

I would need more pictures including whole tree, trunk, looking for evidence of gumming, insect burrowing, etc. Usually if the whole tree is declining, the trunk or roots are focal points
