This summer I've had several encounters with praying mantis. The previous sightings were an off-white/tan color but today I met a green one.

Hi Janet, thanks for your question. Both the California and Chinese mantis can be found in Oregon.
Mantis can be different colors depending on where they develop. The mantis in your picture appears to be the California mantis (there are minor differences in wing color pattern).
