I have these bugs that ate/destroyed my mother in law's Mexican sunflowers this season. I'd like some help identifying them so that I can try and prevent and/or get rid of them next season if possible. Thank you!

The insects could be cucumber beetles: https://bugguide.net/node/view/1018680/bgpage I believe a product meant to control them would work. You will have to read the labels on insecticides.
