Management of grubs in my lawn #850145

Asked September 16, 2023, 1:07 PM EDT

I have been battling grubs in a section of my front lawn for years. The lawn has been treated by professionals and I have  treated with products from the hardware store. The grubs still return every year. . I have removed the affected section and plan to resod the area. Any suggestions on treating the soil before I resod ?

Hi Jayne,

I have a few questions for you:
  • Have you seen the grubs? Or, are you noticing the area of lawn a brown or dead? Are you noticing any webbing or other signs?
  • Have you done a "tug test"? Tug on the turf grass. Does it peel up easily, or is the turf still rooted in the ground?
  • Can you send photos of the grubs and also the turf damage? Photos close up of the damage, and further away to see the turf in the landscape is very helpful!
  • What products have you used to treat grubs? How often? When?
Since you've tried both professional services and products from the hardware store, and you are still experiencing issues with the turf, I am wondering if you might have another issue.

A little more information will be helpful so we can provide a recommendation!

You can also bring a sample of the grubs to the Arapahoe County Extension office at 6934 S. Lima St. Suite B, Centennial, CO 80112. We have a sample ID fee of $8. We are open Monday through Thursday 8-4:30pm. We can get the exact ID of the grubs through a sample. However, feel free to send in photos (a free service).

Look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks,

Lisa
