Expert Response
We are seeing a great deal of stressed trees in Maryland right now, with many showing off-color and scorched-looking leaves.
Early fall coloration and leaf drop is likely to be common this year due to our weather conditions and changing climate. For many, many weeks this year most of central Maryland has been under serious drought conditions which is impacting plants large and small.
If you have any ability to get a slow dripping hose under the tree, about partway from the trunk to the drip line, do so, and move it around every so often.
