Hello Mary,
You may absolutely submit some photos of your tree and I'll do my best to help you. I'll need photos of the leaves, top and bottom, the trunk, and the tree as a whole. Let's start there and see where we get.
Thanks

Hello Mary,
I'll continue to wait to receive your photos.
Another option would be to contact an arborist in your area to come out to your property to evaluate the health of your tree. Here are a couple of resources you can use if you'd like to go this route.

Hope this helps as well.
Thank!
Hi, Ruth-Ellen
I was in the process of getting these pictures to upload when I received your response, so I'll send them to you to see what you think. My husband said that the leaves closer to the house look healthier than the ones he took photos of. About half the tree has leaves like the pictured ones.
Thanks for the resources, we'll contact them if you feel that'd be best.
I can only upload 2 at a time, so I'll reply twice
Thanks!
Mary

Hello Mary,
Thank you for sending the photos. It looks like the Maple has a fungal infection. That said, this year has been a very wet year and most plants/trees are developing infections and disease. I wouldn't be able to say whether it's something that has developed this year due to weather conditions or in previous seasons. Having someone come in person to evaluate the overall health of the tree is an option. You can check out the links I included in the above message. Contacting an arborist or the town, whose interest is in the health and safety of the tree and those who dwell in your home sounds important to you. I'm including some resources for you.
Of these, it looks most like Anthracnose.

some IPM options
For a more cohesive and professional diagnosis and management plan, you'll want to contact an arborist in your area.
I hope this helps!
