Purpleleaf Sand Cherry Black spots #846261

Asked August 18, 2023, 12:25 PM EDT

I have 6 Purple Leaf Sand Cherry bushes. 3 of bushes have black spots on the leaves that then die and fall off. Also the tips of the branches wither snap and fall off. Any idea what is causing it and what can I do to correct the issue?

Expert Response

Sand cherries can be affected by common cherry and rose diseases because cherries are in the rose family.
It looks like a fungal leaf spot disease is affecting your shrubs. The high temps and humidity we have experienced this summer promote fungal diseases. Management information is included in the references.
