Apple Orchard #845878

Asked August 16, 2023, 10:03 AM EDT

I have 6 apple trees. They have lovely leaves and bloom in the spring. By mid June, the leaves start to fall off. The leaves have brown spots on them. I have not been spraying these trees but would like to know what to spray on them so the trees will be healthy and produce lots of apples. I have some leaves I will be glad to show you.

Expert Response

First, if you have not soil sampled in the last 3 years, I recommend taking soil samples.

Secondly, there is a spray program for commercial growers.  IF you are a home owner, you may be able to follow part of the program, but many of the chemicals are not available to the homeower.  The spray program can be found in the NC Ag Chemicals manual.

It is free online.  https://content.ces.ncsu.edu/north-carolina-agricultural-chemicals-manual
