Bug book #845387

Asked August 12, 2023, 2:36 PM EDT

I’m currently looking for a good garden bug book with photographs rather than drawings. Both friends and foes. And where to get it in Twin Cities rather than Amazon. Thanks much

Expert Response

Good Morning Elaine,

Thank you for contacting the U of M Extension Service.

Excellent question! I am not sure only one book will be able to satisfy your needs.

Heather Holm is a local (Minnetonka) author of books about pollinators. Please click on this link from the Pollination Press: https://www.pollinationpress.com/authors.html

There are several authors listed and many of their books are about yard and garden bugs.

I personally own three of Heather Holm's books and have attended several of her workshops. Her books are actual photos of the bugs and include descriptions of them, their habitat, and their host plants.

If you are unable to find her books at a local book store, I know the Landscape Arboretum gift shop carries her books and a wide variety of other horticulture related books. Here is a link to her website: https://www.pollinatorsnativeplants.com/

Good Luck!
