We've been pulling this plant out of the flower garden and strawberry patch for thirty years, but it's always here. It's rare to see an intact leaf that hasn't been drilled out by insects. We've not been able to find this on anyone's "Favorite Ohio Weeds" website.

My best guess is that it is Acalypha rhomboidea (Common Three-Seed Mercury, Copperleaf, Rhomboid Mercury, Virginia Three-Seed Mercury) which is a native annual wildflower. I found some reliable websites with information about this plant and listed them below.
